Members in attendance: Ruth Barrington, Lee Chartier, Joanne Galliano, Dennis Moore, Michele O’Brien and JoAnn Warren
Focus on Meeting: Mailing of Statements and Opening Day Activities
Mailing of Statements:
JoAnn and Dennis provided an update. An e-mail blast will be distributed on Tuesday, 6/21 to all CCRI Employees and a Campus Announcement will be posted as well (access to students).
Christina O’Reilly has prepared a survey asking respondents to rank and edit statements. The committee reviewed the survey and made minor changes.
Paper copies are ready to be mailed to faculty at home, and all other college employees at their offices. They should be mailed out on Tuesday 6/21.
Unfortunately, not all adjunct faculty members will receive a paper copy (only those teaching this summer). A discussion ensued as to how best to reach them. It was recommended that JoAnn contact Department Chairs and ask them to forward a link to the survey, or a paper copy of the survey. Department Chairs should decide who should receive the mailing.
Opening Day Activities:
Ruth and Dennis reported that the President’s Council is considering an alternate date and site for Opening Day. Thursday or Friday 9/1 or 9/2 is being considered. The Council appears open to the idea of holding activities in the Field House and a "cookout".
It was suggested that the "presentation" have a theme, be fun and interactive.
The committee came to the conclusion that we should provide another opportunity for input and editing at Opening Day. There is some concern that we have asked for input too much, however, Lee suggested that while we are immersed in the process, asking for continued input would not be viewed as redundant by the college community. The purpose of our Opening Day activity is to achieve a sense of "inclusiveness".
A Tentative Plan has been developed and will be forwarded to VP Sherman for her review. It was suggested that JoAnn make a presentation to the President’s Council supporting our ideas and recommendations for Opening Day. Dennis will ask to be put on the Agenda for the 6/29 meeting.
JoAnn will contact the leadership of the Faculty Association, CCRISPA and the Classified Employees unions to invite them to participate in the planning of this activity. It was recommended that we invite them to our next meeting (7/11 at 9:00 am), upon approval from President’s Council.
