Absent: Joanne Galliano, Wayne Solomon, and student representatives.
Special Guest: Interim President DiPasquale.
Dennis Moore called the meeting to order and asked everyone to introduce themselves to our new committee members.
Interim President DiPasquale charged the committee to continue drafting the mission statement and develop a strategy for eliciting feedback from the college community. He established a deadline for the final statement of 5/19/06.
A tentative release of the revised statement was targeted for 4/25/06. A strategy for eliciting feedback was discussed. It was determined that an e-mail requesting a review and comments would best meet the deadline.
JoAnn Warren circulated a packet of materials for discussion and review.

After reviewing the above documents and discussing a critique by the RIBGHE of the 9/23/05 statement, the committee began redrafting the statement. A draft statement was used (based on URI's approved statement) as a beginning point.
The committee developed the following statement at its 4/13/06 meeting:
Community College of Rhode Island is the primary point of access to higher education for a diverse community of learners. As the state’s only comprehensive public associate degree granting institution, the College builds on its tradition of serving the varied educational needs of Rhode Islanders. CCRI is committed to helping students succeed by offering a comprehensive array of career, transfer, and lifelong programs. We strive to cultivate community service, embrace cultural diversity, contribute to economic development, and encourage the pursuit of excellence.
