CCRI hosts Promise Enrollment Days in August

July 31, 2019

Rhode Island Promise Enrollment Day returns to the Community College of Rhode Island this month with two more sessions at the Knight Campus in Warwick to assist high school students planning to attend CCRI this fall under the Promise scholarship program.

Enrollment Day allows incoming students to apply, learn about financial aid options, speak with advisors and student service reps, and register for courses. The first session is Tuesday, Aug. 6 from noon to 6 p.m., followed by a second session Thursday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., both at the Great Hall.

Approximately 300 R.I. Promise students graduated from CCRI in 2019 as the college’s first scholarship cohort, part of a class of more than 2,000 graduates, CCRI’s largest ever. With an average annual tuition of more than $36,000 per year among in-state four-year colleges, R.I. Promise offers incoming CCRI students and recent high school graduates two years of free college tuition. Students are required to enroll full-time each semester for two years while maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA.

In addition to taking the ACCUPLACER and receiving assistance on completing the Free Application for Federal State Aid (FAFSA), students attending Enrollment Day can also learn about CCRI’s transfer agreements with more than 70 four-year institutions, including seamless transfer paths to Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode through the college’s Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA) program. JAA also offers tuition discounts and special advising sessions for future transfer students.

With the launch of its new Academic and Career Paths program, CCRI now makes it easier for incoming students to apply and enroll in courses based on their interests. When students choose from one of seven career paths – including Arts and Humanities; Communication, Media and Film; and Health and Health Administration, among others – their course sequence is selected for them based on whether or not they want to transfer to a four-year college and enter the workforce after two years. CCRI offers more than 80 associate degree programs and more than 45 certificate programs.

Students attending Enrollment Day must bring a photo ID, high school transcript and 2017 tax returns (both for student and parents). Register online today.
