Career Pathways program
Sept. 18, 2015
Career Pathways for the 21st Century, a free program at the Community College of Rhode Island offering career exploration and skills improvement for adults interested in training in one of the state's high-demand sectors, will begin its next session next month.
Information sessions for those interested in learning more about the program will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19 and 24 at the college's Liston Campus, 1 Hilton St., Providence
The program, launched in 2010 and offered through CCRI's Center for Workforce and Community Education, will be offered starting Oct. 6 in Providence. The eight-week session focuses on helping people break into high-demand job sectors such as health care, information technology, construction, advanced manufacturing, and hospitality and tourism. The program also helps participants hone their skills in math, reading and writing.
Participants will spend 20 hours each week in the program, which also will provide work experiences including job shadows, tours and informational interviews; distance learning opportunities; case management services; and career coaching that includes referral to appropriate training, job search strategies, and development of a long-term career and educational plan.
The program is free to accepted students through funding provided by the Rhode Island Department of Education, and there are no income eligibility requirements.
To request more information or register for an information session, contact Career Pathways Coordinator Lynn Watterson at 401-455-6042 or by email.
