Perfect weather welcomed participants, sponsors and volunteers to the picturesque Alpine Country Club for CCRI’s 18th annual Fall Classic on Sept. 17. This year’s tournament raised a record-breaking $43,000 for student financial support.

More than 120 golfers enjoyed lunch outdoors on the patio and teed off in support of the college’s annual golf tournament, aided by a dozen CCRI volunteers. View photos of the event.

Organizers attribute the success of this tournament to the generosity of its sponsors. Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island supported the tournament at the new champion sponsor level, while Ameresco, Honeywell, Atrion/Cisco and Corvias Campus Housing returned as presenting sponsors. Delta Mechanical Contractors returned as a cart sponsor and was joined by newcomer Huntington Controls. ConnectEDU and Pare Corporation were new sponsors, for lunch and reception, respectively. In addition, 12 corporate foursomes participated.

Following golf, participants returned to the ballroom, where hors d’oeuvres, a raw bar, prime rib, pasta and beverages were served. President Ray Di Pasquale addressed the crowd and guests bid on a wide array of silent and live auction items and collected their raffle prizes. More than $5,500 was raised through the auction and raffle.

Since the tournament began 18 years ago through the efforts of former CCRI administrators Joe DiMaria and Ray Ferland, nearly $400,000 has been raised to help students with scholarship assistance, textbook purchases and a variety of other forms of financial assistance.
