CITLA workshop to address copyright issues

Arlene Bielefield, J.D. will conduct a professional development workshop for CCRI faculty and staff on Feb. 3.The Center for Innovative Teaching, Learning and Assessment (CITLA) invites faculty and staff to “Copyright Issues in Higher Education,” a workshop given by Arlene Bielefield, J.D., from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Friday Feb. 3. The event, which is sponsored by the CCRI Foundation, will be held in Room 1040 at the Knight Campus in Warwick. It will begin with a buffet lunch from approximately noon to 1 p.m. followed by Dr. Bielefield's presentation from 1 to 3 p.m. and conclude with a question-and-answer session.
Dr. Bielefield is an assistant professor in the department of information and library science at Southern Connecticut State University. She holds a juris doctor degree from the University of Connecticut. An expert in the field of copyright law, she has co-authored several books on the subject and has lectured across the country. The workshop will focus on information Bielefield gathered while researching her current book project, “Crash Course in the Law for Libraries” and will cover:
- TEACH Act provisions that govern distance learning
- Fair use of copyrighted materials
- Guidelines for time-restricted multimedia products for students
Workshop participants may receive two continuing education units (CEUs) for attending. RSVP online by Jan. 30 to reserve your place.
