New Databases Databases added during Summer 2008 include CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics Online, Latino American Experience, Natural Standard, Nursing Reference Center, and Oxford Language Dictionaries Online. New Books and Videos/DVDs View our lists of new books added to the McNaughton collections and new videos/DVDs on each campus. HELIN Encore You can now search HELIN via Encore, a discovery tool for searching library catalogs. Please send us your comments on Encore. Online Journals The library now subscribes to the online versions of the Chronicle of Higher Education and Chronicle of Philanthropy, as well as Adjunct Advocate. Fall 2008 Course Offerings LRCT 1010 (Introduction to Library Research on the Internet) is being offered during the Fall 2008 semester at the Liston campus and online. Database Trials While the HELIN Database Trials are over, please take a look at some of the databases available via the Rhode Island Statewide Databases Trial. Spring 2008 Database Changes The EBSCO databases (Academic Search Premier, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and World History Collection) basic search screens have been modified to default to searching for full text articles. Fall 2007 Database Changes The library has added several new databases this fall, including Oxford Reference Online. You'll also find links to and descriptions of Greenwood's African American Experience, Daily Life Online, and World Folklore & Folklife; Facts on File's African-American History Online; CountryWatch; FACTS.com's Issues in American History; NoodleTools; and Rosetta Stone on the Other Electronic Resources page. The library no longer subscribes to Wilson's Social Sciences Full Text; however, EBSCO's SocINDEX (located on the Periodical Databases page) provides similar coverage. Spring 2008 Course Offerings LRCT 1010 (Introduction to Library Research on the Internet) is being offered during the Spring 2008 semester at the Knight, Liston, and Newport campuses as well as online. The library seeks submissions for the five books that have most influenced you or that you would like to encourage others to read. Please send us your Five Favorites List and why you recommend the books. On a regular basis, the library will publish someone's list and display selections from the lists. [top] |
