The libraries at the Flanagan, Knight, Liston, and Newport campuses of the Community College of Rhode Island contain over 100,000 volumes and subscriptions to over 600 periodicals. Personal computers in each library provide access to the library catalog, periodical databases, and other Internet resources. The CCRI Library is a member of the Higher Education Library Information Network (HELIN) Consortium. The other HELIN members are Brown University, Bryant University, Johnson and Wales University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, Salve Regina University, the University of Rhode Island, Wheaton College, Dominican House of Studies, and the Association of Rhode Island Health Sciences Libraries (ARIHSL). CCRI students may borrow materials from the circulating collections of the HELIN member libraries using their library card. Campus Addresses & Phone Numbers Flanagan Campus Knight Campus Liston Campus Newport Campus Directions to the Campus Libraries The entrance to the library is located on the 1st floor of the Lincoln campus. The entrance to the library is located on the 4th floor of the round building at the Warwick campus. The library is located on the 2nd floor, above the Bookstore, of the Providence campus. The library is located on the 2nd floor of the Newport campus, next to the Student Success Center and the Academic Computer Lab. Fines/Lost Books Overdue fines for circulating books are $.10 per day. Please return books promptly. As of July 2005, lost books will be billed at the rate of $100 per book. You will not be able to register for additional classes, graduate, or receive a transcript until your obligation to the library has been met. You may order materials from other HELIN libraries (except for the Brown University Library) directly from the HELIN Library Catalog. You will need your CCRI Library Card to complete this transaction. Some materials may not circulate. You may be able to order a book from the Brown University Library from the InRhode Library Catalog, after first searching the HELIN Library Catalog. You will need your CCRI Library Card to request an InRhode loan. Only books not available from the other HELIN member libraries may be requested from Brown; some materials may not circulate. Materials that are not available at the HELIN libraries may be ordered through Interlibrary Loan. For further details, see the CCRI Interlibrary Loan Policy or a Reference Librarian for assistance. Your CCRI Student ID serves as your CCRI Library Card. You may obtain your Student ID from the CCRI Student Services Office. Before you can check out material or request a book from any of the HELIN libraries, you need to activate your Student ID at the CCRI Library Circulation Desk. You will also need your activated card to gain access to the library's subscription databases from off-campus. Please note that the library barcode number is the 14-digit number that appears below the barcode on your Student ID (ignore the letters A and B that appear at the beginning and end of the number).
*Summer hours may vary at Liston and Newport. Please contact the applicable campus for the latest information. CCRI librarians schedule classes in library skills and the use of research materials at the instructor's request. Individual instruction and assistance are available in the use of the HELIN Library Catalog, periodical databases, and other resources. Most books, including new books, may be borrowed for four weeks and renewed once for an additional week. You may be able to renew your books online after first selecting Your Library Record from the HELIN Library Catalog. Audiovisual materials and pamphlets may be borrowed for one week. You must present a HELIN member library card to borrow materials.
Reference services are available most of the hours that the library is open. Reference Librarians will help you locate the material you need, instruct you in the use of the various databases in the library, and assist you with HELIN loan, InRhode loan, and Interlibrary Loan requests. Reserve items are kept at the Circulation Desk. Most materials are for library use only. Fines for circulating reserve items are $1.00 per day. The library has established a film collection in memory of Sylvia A. Mercier, Reference Librarian at CCRI from 1972-1998. The collection is made up of movies nominated for the Academy Awards' Best Picture category, from 1990 to the present.
