About the Club

What:

A meeting of students, adult learners, families and friends interested in the Italian language and culture.

Mission Statement:

To share a common interest in the Italian Language and culture; to organize educational and charitable activities in RI; to exchange cultural information with students of Italian from other institutions.

When:

Meetings every Tuesday 11:00 am during academic year 2001-2002.

Where:

Conference Room 3240.


Past Events

  • Bus trip Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts - RISD in Providence and museums in New York City.
  • Co-Sponsored "Immersion Day" during Spring break
  • Presented workshops on Italian Holiday Traditions for children and adults in our local libraries
  • Enjoyed educational trips to Italy, summers 1997 and 2000
  • Food Drive to benefit Amos House

  • Visits to Ellis Island and Little Italy in New York.
  • Attended the opera performances of "La Traviata", "La Boheme", "Madame Butterfly" and "Carmen" in Providence
  • Co-sponsored with French/German Club trip to Quebec, Canada
  • Presented "Outstanding Merit Awards" for the study of Italian Language and Culture
  • Sponsored Cultural Cuisine Workshops
  • Attended Italian Film Festivals at RISD, Brown University and RIC
  • Sponsored from 1994 to present Italian Language Summer Program for Children (Community Service Learning/Honors Project)
  • Participated in the "Splendor of Florence" (several students were interpreters of Italian)
