| Biography: |
Maria C. Mansella was born in San Clemente di Galluccio
in the province of Caserta, Italy. She earned a Diploma of Maturitą Magistrale (Elementary Education Certification) from the Istituto Vincenzo Gioberti, Sora (Frosinone). Maria C. Mansella holds a BA Cum Laude from Rhode Island
College in Secondary Education with a concentration in French and Italian,
minor Portuguese and a
Master in Arts from Middlebury College. Maria C. Mansella attended Brown
University, URI and the Salamanca Summer Program in Spain. She has taught Bilingual Education-ESL,
Italian, French and Spanish for several Rhode Island elementary and secondary schools, Rhode Island College
and Providence College. She currently is a Professor at the Community College of Rhode Island where she teaches Italian
and on occasion French and Spanish. In addition, she is a special lecturer for
Providence College School of Continuing Education. Active in several
professional associations, Maria C. Mansella
served as
President of RITI (Rhode Island Teachers of Italian) 2000-2004 and as a member of the American Association
of Teachers of Italian she serves on their AATI National Examination
Committee. She is the RITI Newsletter Co-Editor. Maria C. Mansella served as Vice President of C.A.S.IT.(Centro Attivią Scolastiche
Italiane) 2000-2002, an office of
the Italian Consulate in Boston and she currently serves as C.A.S.IT Board
Member; Corresponding Secretary of RIFLA
(Rhode Island Foreign Language Association); a member of the IAHSRI
(Italian
American Historical Society of Rhode Island), the Renaissance-Alliance Lodge-Sons
of Italy and October Heritage Month Committee. Maria C. Mansella presented several
foreign language
workshops at the local and state levels. Maria C. Mansella is the
Coordinator-Director of the CCRI Summer Travel/Study Program in Orvieto,
Italy. Maria C. Mansella received
several awards for her dedication to the teaching profession:
