Picasa Web Albums

This tutorial will teach you how to create a Picasa Web Album. These types of photo galleries are easy to create --all you need is a Google e-mail account and a computer with Internet access. You will use your account to upload images and create albums.

Please note: the login screen shot below was made using the Web Services google account. You should use your Google e-mail account.

  1. Downsize your images to Web-ready dimensions --See step #10 for best sizes.
  2. Login to your Google account from the Picasa Web Albums login page

  3. You will be brought to a "Get started" page. Click Upload.

  4. Give the album a title and choose the visibility. If the album will be embedded on a Web page you will need to choose "Public on the web".  Click Continue.

  5. Click "Select photos from your computer"

  6. Select the downsized photos from their location (hard drive, flash drive, share drive) and click "Open."

  7. On the bottom, left-hand side of the window you will see the progress of your upload.

  8. Once all images have been uploaded, click "OK" on the bottom, right-hand side of the window.

  9. In the right panel, click "Embed Slideshow".

  10. Choose the options that you want (ie: autoplay, show captions) and then copy the code in the yellow section (400px slideshow size displays best on our Web pages).
