Dealing with Problems
Difficult or Abusive Customers
IT employees are expected to maintain a courteous manner with all users, you may encounter a user whose attitude is irate or uncooperative.
- Stay calm. Try to remain diplomatic and polite. Getting angry will only make them angrier.
- Always show willingness to resolve the problem or conflict.
- Try to think like the user. Remember, their problems and concerns are important.
If such a situation occurs and it appears to be getting out of control, please call your supervisor, other managers or staff members within the User Support Unit. Problems that occur outside the normal work hours should be referred to the College Police.
