MyCCRI Chat
The Chat tool is used primarily for student-to-instructor communication but is also designed as a community-building tool for general use within a course. Students can chat with other classmates at any agreed-upon time, which can also facilitate group work.
Course chat is synchronous (real time) and the content cannot be saved within the Course Tools. However a faculty member could copy the text of the chat session and paste it into Word to save it.
Every course has its own chat room. To join (enter) a chat room for a course in which you are a registered student or faculty member, use the following procedure.

Step 1Log in to your MyCCRI account and click on the myCourseTools tab. |

Step 2From the Course Resources menu, select a term. A list of courses appears. |

Step 4The Group Chat window opens. Messages sent by participants are listed in the large window at the left, and the screen names of those participants are listed in the narrow window on the right side of the screen. |
|
Step 5To contribute to the chat session, type your message in the lower window and press the Enter key on your keyboard. |
|
Step 6To exit the chat room, click the Exit button at the top of the page or close the main Chat window. |

With the "Whisper" feature, you can send a private message to one or more participants in a chat session. Only the participants whose screen names you select will receive the message. The other chat room participants cannot view the message in their chat screens. To use this feature use the following steps:
