Archiving Your E-mail Messages in Outlook

Archiving your e-mail messages will move old messages from their original location to a specific file folder.  They will not be deleted.  After you complete the steps below, you can access the archived e-mail by looking in the "Archive" folder from the folder list within Outlook.

Step 1:

Open Outlook 2007. Click on File in the menu and select "Archive".

Step 2:

Inside the Archive dialog box:

  1. make sure that "Archive this folder and all subfolders:" is selected
  2. click on Personal Folders
  3. From the "Archive items older than:" dropdown, choose 12/31/2007 from the calendar
  4. make sure that 'Include items with "Do not AutoArchive" checked' is checked
  5. click OK
Outlook will now automatically create an archive file folder with all of your e-mail items that are older than the date selected in step 2c.
