Make Videos and Audios Accessible

Accessibility requires captions or a text transcript for video and audio.

Best practices for creating accessible audio and video:

  • Script before you record. This practice saves time on transcribing scripts during post-production.
  • Use a microphone when recording. A USB microphone is a good option. Using a microphone improves auto-caption accuracy, e.g. with YouTube..
  • Avoid auto play option if you embed your video in your webpage. Auto play interferes with navigation for users who use screen reader. The auto play mechanism may stop a screen reader.
