TOPIC DISCUSSION OUTCOME
1. Minutes of last meeting (March 20, 2007)  Minutes were read.  Minutes were approved.
2. Quarterly Report

Jeanette Matrone, the Grant Manager, outlined the main points included in the 6th Quarterly Report for the grant. Jeanette said that she is continuing as if the budget has been approved. The report is available on the CCRI website.
A. Presentation The Health Science Coordinators gave the CNA students a presentation about the grant for recruiting purposes. In response they received 2 applications to CCRI. The Health Science Coordinators also led tours for high school students. Because of this 19 students submitted applications.
B. Vendor Status Jeanette Matrone announced that CCRI now has vendor status. The applicants from the Department of Labor and Training (DLT) can take advantage of the benefits associated with it.
C. CCRI Wait List The CCRI wait list has been refined resulting in a shorter list. Future plans are for it to be extinguished. There are now 1200 students on the list.
D. Tutors Jeanette said that there are ample nursing tutors acquired for the summer and fall semesters. She said that there have been positive responses from the students who have been tutored.
E. Student Nurses' Association of RI (SNARI) Student Nurses' Association of Rhode Island (SNARI) held their annual conference to which Health Science Coordinator Marie Martone attended. Marie said that there were many students present and 25 of them asked for follow up on CCRI programs. Marie also added that she is working with Janice Canellio at Kent Hospital to recruit mentors for CCRI students.
3. Report from Dean McGarry Jeanette Matrone reported for Dean McGarry the status of SNAP. The cohort consists of students that are sponsored by several health care agencies which include those from the waiting list. Students from the waiting list attended an information session on April 22, 2007 that described the program and requirements. Students are enrolled in NURS 1010 for 15 weeks this summer, have one week vacation and then will progress to NURS 1020. Each of the 4 nursing courses will be 15 weeks in length and the cohort will conclude the nursing courses in mid-August, 2008.

On May 14, 49 students enrolled in LPNU 1030. The other statistic that is important is 64 graduates completed the practical nursing program during Summer 2006 and December 2006. The data provided from National Council of State Boards of Nursing shows the pass rate for CCRI is 100%.

Fall nursing enrollment will be at an all time high and the 2007-2008 academic year will have 450 students enrolled in the first year of the nursing program which includes the SNAP cohort. Continuing students will include those enrolled in NURS 1020. There are also over 250 students enrolled in the second level of the nursing program.

There are eight nursing faculty vacancies that need to be filled and interviews are currently in progress. Also, there is one open position in the respiratory care department. The search committee is in the process of interviews at this time.
