Topic Discussion Outcome
1.  Jeanette Matrone, the Grant  Program Manager, gave a brief status update on the Grant's progress. Jeanette discussed the support the Grant is receiving from CCRI President Ray DiPasquale and the favorable outcomes because of this. She also mentioned that some of the original grant tasks will now be changed to meet some of the updated expected outcomes and timeframes.

Jeanette asked attendees to consider alternatives to get additional faculty to manage clinical sites. Dean McGarry added that all should be mindful of state regulations in this regard.

Jeanette commented that CNOs in Massachusetts have posted their nurse/patient ratios and their staffing plans on the "We Care" Website. Ruth Ricciarelli added that she thought that Rhode Island does this also. John Aflague suggested that it would be a good idea to place a link from the CCRI HCF webpage to this information.

Jeanette remarked on the great progress between CCRI and Care New England (CNE) CNE is proposing a nursing program for CNE employees to advance from the wait list. The program is scheduled to start in November 2007 and end at graduation December 2008.

Jeanette will follow up with Ruth on where this information is available in Rhode Island.
2. Maureen McGarry addressed the 22 clinical sites. Maureen implored those present to look into facilities to see if they can accommodate clinical sites, especially in the field of Ultrasound.

Maureen mentioned the NLN Web/Audio Seminar being held on November 14 at the Knight Campus. All are welcome.

3.  Rhode Island Health Care Association presentation about Long Term Care A. Hugh Hall and members of the Rhode Island Health Care Association (RIHCA) presented a PowerPoint presentation on Long Term Care and the opportunities that this industry presents for clinical practice. Members of Quality Partners of RI explained their grant which aims at changing the culture of Long Term Care facilities.

B. Nelia Odom added that the material is posted on the Quality Partners of RI website, http://www.medqic.org
