Purpose:   To recognize the achievement of academic excellence by graduating students of good character who are completing the requirements of the Joint Admissions Agreement program and will be transitioning to Rhode Island College or the University of Rhode Island by fall semester 2008.

Procedure: Students will submit the following by the deadline

§         scholarship application
§         letter of recommendation from a faculty member and
§         200-250 word essay on your goals at the transfer institution

Amount of Award: 2 - $1,300.00 awards

Application Deadline: April 1, 2008

Processing Procedure: Dr. Nancy Carriuolo, the award committee chair, will appoint a committee to review the application materials and determine the award recipients. The award committee chair completes the Sign-Off form and forwards it and all application materials to the Office of Institutional Advancement.

After the award committee determines the award recipients, the chair of the award committee will instruct that checks are made payable to RIC or URI upon verification of the students’ enrollment. The Office of Institutional Advancement will send notification and a congratulatory letter to the selected recipients via certified mail with a copy to the award committee chair. Copies of the letters plus a copy of the application materials will be sent to:
