Purpose: To recognize a graduating DECA member of meritorious standing (2.5 G.P.A. or higher) who attends the Knight Campus and is transferring to a four-year institution.

Processing Procedure: The DECA Advisor, who serves as Scholarship Committee Chair, appoints Scholarship Review Committee.
The DECA Advisor completes Scholarship Sign-Off form, attaches a copy of the student's acceptance letter from the four-year institution, and forwards it and all applications to the Office of Institutional Advancement. At the same, the DECA Advisor contacts Jean Lovett in the Office of Student Affairs for the class night program brochure.
The DECA Advisor notifies selected recipient that verification of enrollment, not simply acceptance, must be obtained from the four-year institution and sent to the Office of Institutional Advancement before payment can be processed. It is the student's responsibility to provide such verification.
Upon receipt of all materials, CCRI Foundation check is made jointly payable
to the selected recipient and the four-year institution. Office of
Institutional Advancement sends check and congratulatory letter to the
selected recipient via certified mail with a copy to the DECA Advisor.

Revenue History:
The account was endowed in 1991.
Stephen Flaherty was a member of Johnston High School DECA. Stephen’s
brother, Dennis, was the national and chapter president for DECA at CCRI.
DECA (Warwick Campus) is the only active fundraising entity and contributes
approximately $500 per year. If DECA at the Lincoln Campus or the Providence
Campus wants to participate by raising at least $1,000, an award will also
be available for a DECA member from the respective campus.
Important Note: Scholarship recipient is required to write a thank you note (memo and sample thank you note) to the scholarship donor, and provide a brief biography (printable bio form) about themselves and their education/career goals and return both to: Geraldine Peixoto, CCRI Foundation, Flanagan Campus, 1762 Louisquisset Pike, Lincoln, RI 02865.
