Purpose:  To award a student who is planning on majoring in the A.F.A. Music program or Jazz Studies.  Preference is given to incoming freshman instrumentalists, however, continuing students and vocalists may also apply.  Student must submit a letter of recommendation from his/her private music teacher. Student must audition in person for the CCRI Music Faculty prior to the beginning of the Fall semester.

Application Deadline:  August 15

Processing Procedure:  Music Department Chair appoints scholarship review committee.

The Music Department Chair completes scholarship sign-off form forwards it and all applications to the Office of Institutional Advancement. 

Upon receipt of all materials, CCRI Foundation check is made jointly payable to the selected recipient and CCRI.  The award will be disbursed in two semesters and the student must carry a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better in order to receive the second semester check.  Office of Institutional Advancement sends check and congratulatory letter to the selected recipient via certified mail with a copy to the Music Department Chair.  Copies of the letter are sent to:

Revenue History:  Account was endowed in 2001 by the Music Department from proceeds received at the 2001 Jazz Odyssey, which was hosted by the Office of Enrollment Services to recognize Professor Emeritus Kaplan for his devotion and contributions to the CCRI Music Department.
