Purpose:  To recognize a student graduating from the Dental Hygiene Program who exhibits outstanding leadership qualities.

Processing Procedures: 
Director of Dental Hygiene appoints Scholarship Review Committee consisting of members of the Dental Hygiene faculty.  The Director of Dental Hygiene completes Scholarship Sign-Off form and forwards it and all applications to the Office of Institutional Advancement.  At the same time, the Director of Dental Hygiene contacts Jean Lovett in the Office of Student Affairs for the Class Night Program Brochure.

Upon receipt of all materials, CCRI Foundation check is made payable to the selected recipient. Office of Institutional Advancement sends check and congratulatory letter to the selected recipient via certified mail with a copy to the Director of Dental Hygiene.  Copies of the letter plus a copy of the application form are sent to:

Revenue History:  Account was endowed in 1991 by Dr. Carlotti's son, who has agreed to contribute annually to this endowed scholarship.  The father was instrumental in the establishment of the Dental Hygiene Program at CCRI as the former Chairman of the RI Board of Governors for Higher Education. Albert E. Carlotti was appointed chairman of the Board of Regents in 1973.  During his tenure as chairman, the Lincoln Campus was constructed, the name of the College was changed from Rhode Island Junior College to Community College of Rhode Island, and President Liston was chosen as the College’s second president.  In 1981, when the board was divided into the Board of Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education and the Board of Governors for Higher Education, Carlotti the became chair of the latter until his retirement in 1989.
