Purpose:  To provide short-term, interest-free loans to students enrolled in the Nursing, Allied, Dental & Rehabilitative Health Programs who are in need of financial assistance due to extenuating circumstances of a temporary nature.  Preference is given to those students who do not qualify for financial aid through the College. Nursing, Allied, Dental, & Rehabilitative Health students may only access the Emergency Loan Fund twice during their enrollment at the College.

If the annual Nursing, Allied, Dental & Rehabilitative Health Job Fair is held in the previous calendar year, the sum of $2,000 will be set aside for the loan fund for the new fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) from the registration fees.  If a Job Fair is not held, the Emergency Loan Fund will be replenished by the amount of interest  earnings in the endowed account from the previous calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

In order to have funds available each semester, the funds will be allocated for emergency loans as follows:

20% Summer Semester - 7/1 - 8/31
50% Fall Semester   - 9/1 - 1/31
30% Spring Semester - 2/1 - 6/30

Unexpended loan funds from one semester may be carried forward to the next semester within the same fiscal year, but may not be carried forward to a new fiscal year.

Processing Procedures:  It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the sign-off form is fully completed and signed by financial aid and one of the following department chairs:  Nursing, Allied, Dental and Rehabilitative Health, prior to attaching it to the application form and sending it to the Dean of Health and Rehabilitative Sciences. The document will then be sent to the office of institutional advancement.  Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding.

It takes two weeks for a check to be issued.  The check is automatically sent to the student's home address via certified mail as soon as it is processed.
