Bio

Professor Lisa Murphy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Saint Anselm College and her Master of Science degree in Nursing Education from the University of Rhode Island. 

She began her nursing career at Massachusetts General Hospital as a staff nurse on a Neurological Step Down Unit.  She went on to work at Miriam Hospital in a variety of nursing positions (staff nurse on an Orthopedic, Neurology and Genitourinary Nursing Unit, Nursing Professional Development Instructor and Ostomy Nurse).  She also worked as a nurse manager at Kent County Memorial Hospital and Saint Anne’s Hospital.  She has been working as a nursing professor at the Community College of Rhode Island since 2005.  Her area of specialty is Medical-Surgical Nursing.  She teaches in NURS 1010 and NURS 1020.  She also serves as Adjunct Nursing Faculty at Rhode Island College.

She belongs to the following professional organizations:  Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing - Epsilon Tau Chapter and the National League of Nursing.  She also serves as a Basic Life Support Instructor.
