Melissa R. Sullivan

Bio

Professor Melissa Sullivan joined the department in 1989. She received a BS in dental hygiene and an MA in adult education from the University of Rhode Island . She also has an MEd in health education from Rhode Island College. Her education has allowed her to work in Europe as well as Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Presently her teaching responsibilities include, Preclinic, Clinic III and Clinic IV. She is Clinic IV coordinator. In the fall semester Melissa teaches Periodontics. Because of her interest in Periodontics she continues to work in private practice at a specialty office in Providence.

On campus she has represented the department on the Academic Advisory Committee for many years. In addition she serves on the case selection committee of the American Dental Association, Dental Hygiene National Board. She has been co- lead for the RIMOM, a volunteer dental outreach event that originated here at CCRI.

Licenses include, RI Dental Hygiene. Local Anesthesia , CPR certification.

Summers she can be found traveling, hiking or sailing on Narragansett Bay.
