Class-Related Information
Class Assignments
After your official papers are processed, Gail will provide you with the form to obtain your user name and pin number, necessary to access your roster and schedule, the latter of which contains your class location. See page 14 to access Pipeline.
Rosters (Class List)
Class and grade rosters are available only on Pipeline. Extensive Pipeline help is available in a number of areas.
Classrooms
All English classrooms are on the sixth floor. Most are equipped with
basic computer equipment. If you want to use another classroom for any
reason during the semester, you must book it with
Cathy Tessier x 2408. Murphy’s
Law is alive and well around here: a room which may have been empty for
weeks may be occupied the time you want to use it.
Classrooms are arranged in parallel rows perpendicular to the two outer
corridors which run the length of the building. The elevators are in the
6300 corridor; the 6000 numbers are in the end opposite the ramp
entrance, and the 6400 classrooms are in the ramp entrance end of the
building. 6500 numbers are in the round part of the building and are
reached by passing the 6400 corridor and going through double doors just
before the second set of stairs.
Office Hours
Full-time temporary faculty are obligated to provide six contact (office) hours per week. Adjunct-student conferences are by appointment.
Textbooks
You receive textbooks for your personal use free through the
Department. See Ellen or Gail. Of necessity, books have already been
ordered for classes taught by adjunct faculty. These texts are generally
used across the board.
If you wish to order supplementary texts, provide Ellen with the
bibliographic information and she will order them. Usually these texts
are in within two weeks. You will be notified of delays. Make sure you
do not order texts already being used in higher level courses. As you
can imagine, this would cause problems in the other class. Ellen can
tell you if the texts are already being used.
If students report that textbooks are not in the bookstore or are sold
out, contact Ann Charbonneau,
textbook manager at x 2139.
