Office of the Dean - Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences

Welcome

Welcome to the Community College of Rhode Island’s division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The nine departments comprised in this division include Art, Criminal Justice/Legal Studies, English, Foreign Languages, Human Services, Mathematics, Performing Arts, Psychology, and Social Sciences. These disciplines are not only the backbone of most programs at the college, but also provide the foundation of an educated person. The AHSS courses allow students to develop the love and discipline of learning, while developing vital skills such as critical thinking, power of analysis, appreciation for diversity of expression, and an overall preparation to understand and face the challenges of modern society. Students embracing studies in these disciplines will be transformed not just into learned persons, but lifelong learning individuals.
