Pharmacy Technician Program

Pharmacy Technician Prep Course for the National Certification Exam

This certification review course will thoroughly prepare current pharmacy technicians to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.  This 5-week program is taught by a licensed pharmacist and is open to current pharmacy technicians who have not yet obtained PTCB certification.  Prior experience in a pharmacy setting is required.  The course consists of 8 sessions of instruction and a 9th session devoted to taking practice exams.

The course includes review of the following topics:

  • Pharmacology
  • Pharmacy calculations
  • Prescriptions
  • Insurance
  • Assisting the pharmacist
  • Pharmacy law
  • Dose forms
  • IV compounding
  • Hospital pharmacy
  • Practice exams

Individuals who have graduated from a pharmacy technician training program and have not become certified are eligible to take this course, even without pharmacy experience. Proof of course completion must be provided prior to registration for this prep class.
