Sheri Norton has been named director of human resources for CCRI. She has served as acting director since May 2005.
Norton’s experience and knowledge of CCRI is impressive. She has been employed in CCRI’s department of human resources since 1978, and has continually assumed increased responsibilities while pursuing additional formal education. Norton holds an MBA in Human Resources/Labor Relations from University of Rhode Island, a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Rhode Island College, Computer Science and Liberal Arts degrees from CCRI, as well as an SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.
Norton has extensive HR experience, including compensation, labor relations, information systems, professional development, and benefits. She has participated in both PSA and ACE negotiations, and she has both a depth and breadth of knowledge about the complexities of CCRI.
During the selection process, a number of faculty and staff members attested to Norton’s professionalism and role as a steady source of support for CCRI’s managers and supervisors.
President Ray Di Pasquale says of Norton, “She is well respected by her colleagues and values the working relationships that have evolved through the years. Her ability to reflect on areas within HR with sensitivity, integrity, and humor were identified as definite positive attributes. Her vision of HR positions the department as a vital partner in the management and strategic planning process.”
