Governor Howard Dean visits CCRI for Democratic unity rally

Gov. Howard Dean

Howard Dean, former presidential candidate and chair of the Democratic National Committee, visited CCRI’s Knight Campus in Warwick recently for a rally to support party unity in Rhode Island. Dean’s appearance was part of a full itinerary of activities in and around Rhode Island.

The unity rally was sponsored by College Democrats groups from several area colleges, as well as the RI Young Democrats and the RI Democratic Party. CCRI Director of Facilities Usage Edna O’Neill Mattson, who serves as vice chair of the RI Democratic Party, kicked off the speaking program and acknowledged CCRI President Ray Di Pasquale.

Speakers from each of the sponsoring organizations were joined by other local Democrats assembled to introduce Dean, including United States Congressmen Patrick Kennedy and James Langevin, RI Lieutenant Governor Charles Fogarty, and State Senator Elizabeth Roberts of Cranston.

Earlier in the day, Dean visited the Liston Campus in Providence for a minority community roundtable discussion.
