RI Mineral Hunters donate collection to CCRI for student use

A collection of gems and minerals mined from throughout New England were recently donated to the Community College of Rhode Island by the RI Minerals Hunters (RIMH). The donated materials will be on display at the Knight Campus in Warwick to assist students studying geology.

More than 20 different kinds of gems and minerals were donated including quartz crystals, garnet, fossil fern, bowenite (RI state mineral), and cumberlandite (Rhode Island state rock).

The mineral hunters are dedicated to conservation, the education of students and hobbyists about minerals and fossils, and generating funds for college scholarships. RIMH also sponsors the annual Gem and Mineral Show at the CCRI Warwick Campus that is attended by thousands of New Englanders.
