Professor of history retires after 39 years with CCRI

After 39 years, Professor of History Ralph Scorpio will retire at the end of this semester. Scorpio has been with the college since its infancy, teaching various history classes, including Western Civilization and more recently focusing on American history. His legacy to the college, though, will be the class that he created on America’s Experience in Vietnam.

Scorpio says he plans to make time for himself in retirement, after decades spent giving of his time in the classroom, but that he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of once again teaching the Vietnam course.

“It’s been a great career that I’ve had at CCRI. The college does a lot of good for a lot of people,” says Scorpio, “but I’m looking forward to a rest.”
