Women’s soccer captains named
Dennis Grassini, head women’s soccer coach, has announced that Brittney Godbout (Cranston), Jami Elliott (Cumberland), and Sarah Lynch (Tiverton) have been named tri-captains for the 2005 season. Godbout and Elliott are both talented midfielders who can also play both offense and defense, while Lynch is a very quick and scrappy forward who can also play in the midfield. Last year as a freshman, Lynch was the team’s third leading scorer with seven goals and nine assists for 23 points. All three were 2004 NJCAA Region XXI All-New England selections. Lynch was also named to the 2004 National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region Team.
Knight logo gets a makeover
CCRI Department of Athletics is updating the Knight logo. The Department of Athletics, along with the Office of Public Relations and consultants at CA Group, are in the process of modernizing the antiquated “older” Knight logo with a more versatile and active Knight that will be implemented as early as Fall 2005.
Sports guide partnership established
The CCRI Department of Athletics has entered into a partnership with WES Productions to market advertising in their seasonal and annual Athletic Guides. This year the department will produce a Fall Sports Guide, Winter Sports Guide and Spring Sports Guide along with the general CCRI athletic brochure. WES will be working as a marketing arm to eliminate costs of the guides, even potentially making them a fundraiser. The guides are essential recruiting tools for the coaches to promote the athletics department and all of the individual sports; they are distributed to fans as well as to potential new student-athletes.
