Barrett to present at national conference
Bruce Barrett, director of networking and telecommunications, has been selected to present nationally at the ACUTA Annual Computer Networking and Telecommunications Conference to be held this July in Florida. ACUTA is an international non-profit educational association serving colleges and universities, with a membership of 825 institutions and over 2000 professional individuals.
Nunes elected to statewide office
Trisha Nunes, vice president of CCRI’s ESPA/NEARI, was recently elected as the NEARI statewide treasurer. She and Louis Rainone, ESPA president and NEARI secretary, are the only higher education support professionals to ever have been elected to statewide NEARI office.
Faculty granted tenure
Three distinguished members of the CCRI faculty have recently been awarded tenure. They are: Ann Marie Rameika and Margaret Clifton, both Assistant Professors of Nursing; and Joseph Polisena, Assistant Professor of Fire Science.
Student organization receives award
The CCRI chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals received the IAAP’s Division Student Chapter Membership Award in recognition of outstanding membership growth in 2003-2004. Faculty advisors for the chapter are Professor Ellen Silva and Assistant Professor Elaine Zinno.
McGill published
Advising & Counseling Coordinator Brenda McGill was recently published in the National Academic Advising Association’s Journal, a nationally known and respected publication. McGill is published with her review of the book Journey to the Ph.D.: How to navigate the process as African Americans.
Scattone recognized for newsletter
Donna Scattone, ESPA/NEARI secretary, was recently honored with third place for best newsletter in a statewide contest among 72 local NEARI local affiliates. Scattone is the designer and editor of The Local 852 Express, the CCRI local affiliate’s periodic newsletter.
