TLT mentors provide tech help

The Teaching and Learning with Technology group at CCRI offers monthly meetings, open lab sessions and many other resources for faculty to make the most of the technology available to them in and out of the classroom.

Two resources that have proven to be particularly useful are the faculty technology mentors. William Pellicio of the human services department, and Debbie Grande of the computer studies department, had held the title for two years before passing the torch to this year’s mentors, Tony Basilico and Luis Malaret.

Tony Basilico teaches programming and networking classes as well as an Introduction to Computers class.

Basilico offers complete on-line classes in WebCT and also offers other classes that use features of WebCT. He is an extensive user of Front Page, Pipeline, and all of the Microsoft Office Suite Products.
Joining the faculty in 2000, Luis Malaret came to CCRI with an interest in distance learning. After participating in the Spring 2001 Teaching with Technology Fellows Institute, Malaret began developing WebCT components of his introductory course, Biology 1001. To date he has included lecture notes, handouts, syllabi, images and on-line lab quizzes.

Faculty interested in learning more about technology resources can contact Tony Basilico at 825-2199 or abasilico@ccri.edu; or Luis Malaret at 333-7295 or lmalaret@ccri.edu. Information about TLT is available online at http://it.ccri.edu/tlt/.
