The Biotechnology Certificate program offers hands-on, competency-based instruction designed to retrain individuals with previous workplace and/or educational experience and prepare them for entry-level positions in the biomanufacturing industry. The Orientation to Biotechnology Seminar (BIOL 1300) introduces students to the field. Work-related concepts and skills are acquired in the biology, chemical technology and process control/instrumentation courses required for completion of the certificate program. The program provides students with the necessary theoretical scientific background, while emphasizing practical applications of this knowledge. In the laboratory, students are trained in the actual techniques employed in the industry.
Admission Requirements: Students must, at a minimum, possess a high school diploma. Students must have successfully completed Composition I (ENGL1010) or an equivalent college level course. Students must demonstrate competency in mathematics at a level equivalent to successful completion of high school algebra. A mathematic assessment examination will be required.
