Networking Certification (CSCO)

CSCO 1850 – Networking Technology - 3 Credits
This course will provide the student with a thorough understanding
of how basic networking components work in a practical hands-on environment utilizing
"state-of-the-art" telecommunications equipment. Lecture: 2 hours, Lab: 2 hours
CSCO 1860 – Intermediate Networking - 3 Credits
This course will focus on networking terminology and protocols,
networking standards, LAN, WAN, OSI modules, Ethernet, Token ring, FDDI, TCP/IP
addressing protocol, dynamic routing and the network administrator’s role and function.
(Prerequisite: CSCO 1850) Lecture: 2 hours, Lab: 2 hours
CSCO 1870 – Local Area Networking Design and Management - 3 Credit
This course will focus on advanced networking concepts that will
enable a student to design and implement Local Area Networks and Virtual Local Area
Networks. (Prerequisite: CSCO 1860) Lecture: 2 hours, Lab: 2 hours
CSCO-1880 – Wide Area Networking Design and Configuration - 3 Credits
This course will focus on advanced networking concepts that will
enable a student to design and implement Wide Area Networks. (Prerequisite: CSCO
1870) Lecture: 2 hours, Lab: 2 hours
CSCO 2010 – Advanced Routing - 5 Credits
Advanced routing covers specialized routing concepts that include
advanced IP addressing techniques, CIDR, NAT, DHCP, IP helper addresses, dynamic
routing, static routing, default routing, single-area OSPF, point-to-multipoint
OSPF, multi-area OSPF, EIGRP, route summarization, route redistribution, route filters,
route maps, policy routing, BGP and network security. (Prerequisite: Student must
have successfully completed and passed the CCNA exam and have attended a Cisco Certified
Academy or demonstrate proficiency using laboratory equipment prior to the beginning
of instruction. Lecture/Lab hours: 8
CSCO 2020 – Remote Access - 5 Credits
This course will concentrate on the advanced concepts of remote
access to a network. Topics include asynchronous dialup, dial-on-demand routing
(DDR), PPP, CHAP, authentication, PAP authentication, Multilink PPP (MLP), compression,
ISDN, dialer profiles, X.25, Frame Relay, Frame Relay traffic shaping, ODR, WAN
backup configurations, queuing, NAT and AAA. (Prerequisite: CSCO 2010) Lecture/Lab
hours: 8
CSCO 2030 – Multi-Layer Switching - 5 Credits
This course will concentrate on the advanced concepts of multi-layer
switching in a network environment. Topics include Switching Technologies, LAN Media,
Gigabit Ethernet, Switch configuration, VLAN’s, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Spaning
Tree Protocol (STP), Multi-layer Switching, Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP),
Multicasting and Restricting Network Access. (Prerequisite: CSCO 2020) Lecture/Lab
hours: 8
CSCO 2040 – Internetwork Troubleshooting - 5 Credits
This course will concentrate on the advanced concepts of internetwork
troubleshooting. Topics include Network Management and Diagnostic Tools, the General
Problem-Solving Model and Tracing Packets through a Router. In addition to troubleshooting:
TCP/IP, Spanning Tree, VLAN’s, Frame Relay, ISDN, Novell IPX, AppleTalk, EIGRP,
BGP and OSPF. (Prerequisite: CSCO 2030) Lecture/Lab hours: 8
