The Biotechnology Certificate program offers hands-on, competency-based instruction designed to retrain individuals with previous workplace and/or educational experience and prepare them for entry-level positions in the biomanufacturing industry. The Orientation to Biotechnology Seminar (BIOL 1300) introduces students to the field. Work-related concepts and skills are acquired in the biology, chemical technology and process control/instrumentation courses required for completion of the certificate program. The program provides students with the necessary theoretical scientific background, while emphasizing practical applications of this knowledge. In the laboratory, students are trained in the actual techniques employed in the industry.

Admission Requirements: Students must have successfully completed Composition I (ENGL1010) or an equivalent college level course. Students must demonstrate competency in mathematics through required math placement testing: A Math Accuplacer score equivalent to the successful completion of pre-algebra OR successful completion of any of the following courses or their equivalent: MATH 600, 1200, 1420, 1700, 1900, 1910, 1920, 2910 or 2990.
