At the same time, you could also read an accounting trade magazine (e.g., Journal of Business Finance and Accounting) for current information, do an information interview with someone employed as an accountant, and request career materials from a professional accounting association (e.g., American Accounting Association).

Career Research/Resources enables you to dive deeply into a career you're considering and become very familiar with what's entailed in that occupation. Doing research is like getting on a first name basis with a career that up to now you may have casually thought about without knowing all that much about. Becoming knowledgeable about your career interests will help you first expand your options before you confidently evaluate and narrow down your choices to one or two.
