Crime Reporting

Introduction

The Department of College Police is committed to providing services that create
and foster a safe environment. That commitment is imbedded in the idea that all
community members are active participants in the crime prevention effort. Each
person shares responsibility for a safe campus.

The Community College of Rhode Island is known as a safe campus and we ask
for suggestions and look for the community’s input to enhance the environment
or working conditions. For more information or assistance please contact one of
the college campus police offices.

Reporting a Crime

It is the shared responsibility of every community member to report crimes on campus.

What to do

A College Police Officer will interview you further to complete the investigation. Some crimes will require the presence and collaboration with the local law enforcement agency.

Any person who is a victim of a crime on campus may request the local law enforcement agency be notified of an incident. This does not mean that the other agency will respond to the scene of the incident.

Crime Reports

Crime reports are available upon request and can be furnished by the College Police in
two business days or within reason. However, the Federal Education Rights and Privacy
Act may restrict certain information from being disclosed. [see online crime stats by campus]
