2014-15 CCRI Women’s Basketball Pre-season Outlook

The 2014-15 CCRI women’s basketball team will have a new look with only two returning starters on the roster from last year’s squad.

Returning point guard Jesse Ossian (Chandler, AZ) led the team last year with 5.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game, she also helped CCRI by scoring 11.3 points per game which ranked her No. 4 on the team. Ossian will continue to be the Lady Knights’ primary ball-handler, orchestrating the offense. Forward Amber Edwards (Boston, MA) led the team last year in rebounding with 202 total rebounds, averaging 8.1 per game. Edwards was No. 3 on the team in scoring with 11.5 points per game.

The Lady Knights welcome a number of freshmen to the program, including Tianna Cruz-Perry (South Kingstown, RI), Amber Boucher (Warwick, RI), Lyric Artis (Albany, NY) and Anna McDaniel (Taunton, MA). Cruz-Perry joins the team after a year of track and field at the University of Rhode Island. She played four years of varsity basketball at South Kingstown High School. Cruz-Perry is a strong player with a big heart and an even bigger passion for the game. Boucher joins the team after playing two years of softball for CCRI. She attended Toll Gate High School and played two years of varsity basketball for Toll Gate. Boucher is a speedy guard with a quick reaction and a nose for the ball. Artist is an incoming freshman out of Albany, NY, who started four years of varsity basketball at Shaker High School. Lyric received many accolades during her four years on varsity, including best defensive player and lead blocker. Anna McDaniel started four years of varsity basketball at Taunton High School, receiving MVP and Hockomock league leading scorer in her senior year.

Lashana Tolliver (Watervliet, NY), a DII transfer from Lincoln University. Tolliver started seven years of varsity basketball at Watervliet High School (Watervliet, NY), beginning in seventh-grade.

Jennifer Cicero (West Greenwich, RI) is a hard-nosed player who works every possession and will do anything to help our team succeed.

“As we approach this upcoming season I am excited to develop players and create new memories,” said Brittany Brown, head coach.
