Coaching Staff

 

Liz Afonso - Head CoachLiz Afonso joins head coach Bev Wiley for her eighth year as an assistant coach of the CCRI women's softball team. She brings more than 22 years of softball experience at the high school and amateur levels. She has coached teams to three state titles, four Division Titles, one Regional Championship, and a top 10 finish in an ASA National Championship. While at CCRI, Afonso has helped coach Wiley lead the Lady Knights to Regional Champion Titles four of the last seven years.

Afonso is a guidance counselor at Lincoln High School and holds a master’s degree from Providence College and a bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College. She is familiar with the expectations of the student-athlete and with the several coaching styles that are present at the college level. She makes her home in Smithfield, R.I. with her husband, Kevin, and two children, Jacob and Krysta.
