Knights runners continue to improve on way to Nationals!

Warwick, R.I. – October 23, 2017: The CCRI Cross Country Team hosted the 2018 JUCO Northeast Invitational on Saturday, with both men’s and women’s teams invited throughout the Northeast. Monroe College took home first place as a team with a perfect score of 15 for the women’s race and a score of 36 in the men’s race.

In the women’s race, Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) ran her best time of the year with a 24 minutes 22 seconds. The time was good enough for 13th place on the 5k course. Coming in right behind Cerullo was Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) who placed 14th with a time of 24:43. Cludrive McKoy from Monroe College won the women’s race with a time of 20:22.

In the Men’s Race, Ryan Pagliaro (Smithfield, RI) continued his great place and ran a 29:24 on the 8k course. Ryan’s time was good enough for fifth place. Kelder Cardoso (Providence, RI) improved greatly and ran a 30:51 which was good enough for eighth place in the race. Mike Dowd of Glouster County, NJ won the race with a rime of 27:21.

Head Coach Gregg Cornell is happy to see the Knights’ continue to improve, and is proud of all the hard work they have put in over the season. The Knights will continue to practice and train but do not race until they travel to the NJCAA National Championships in two weeks on November 4th to be held at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA hosted by Holyoke Community College.
