Pagliaro finishes 18th at Cross Country Nationals!

Warwick, R.I. – July 16, 2016: Four Cross Country Runners traveled to Stanley Park in Westfield, MA to compete in the NJCAA Men’s and Women’s Division III Cross Country National Championships hosted by Holyoke Community College.

Leading the way for the Knights’ men was Ryan Pagliaro (Smithfield, RI) who placed 18th in a career-best time of 27 minutes 29 seconds. Pagliaro earned Coaches Association All-American honors for his great effort. Kelder Cardoso (Providence, RI) also ran a very good race placing 94th in a season-best time of 30:21. This was the largest field for the meet in Division II history with 204 finishers. The winning team was Harper College with 84 points. The individual champion of the 8k course was Abshir Yerow of Onondaga Community College in an impressive time of 26:24.8

Leading the way for the Lady Knights’ women was Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) placed 65th in the women’s race with a season-best time of 22:59. Also running well for CCRI was Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) placed 82nd with a season best time of 23:53. There were 135 finishers and the winning team was Harper College with 24 points. The individual women’s champion of the 5k course was Chyanna Bernier of Herkimer CC in an impressive time of 18:43.7

Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the Championship: “Ryan (Pagliaro) ran a great race. He caught 10 runners over the last 4k of the race. All of the CCRI runners had season-best efforts at the right time and showed determination in their races.”
