Warwick, R.I. – March 30, 2018: The CCRI Knights baseball team continued their week-long home stretch as the welcomed the Buccaneers of Mass Bay Community College on Thursday afternoon. A tight and somewhat sloppy game opened up as the Knights would score three and seven runs in the third and fourth inning respectively on their way to a 13-3 win in five innings. This win improves CCRI's season record to 9-9 and a record of 4-1 in Region XXI play.

CCRI – 13 Mass Bay – 3 (5 Innings)

The Buccaneers came out strong against the Knights after scoring two runs in the top of the first. CCRI answered right back scoring two of their own to tie the game up. Austin Davis (Hollywood, FL) kicked off the scoring with a triple down the right field line, scoring Nick D'Ambra (Coventry, RI) from second and then off a throwing error from the outfield trying to catch him at third, advanced home for the Knights second run.

In the top of the second, with two outs, the Buccaneer batter hit what appeared to hit a one run triple. But unfortunately for Mass Bay, the baserunner had missed third base on his way home and he was called out on a putout at third to end the top of the second inning.

The Knights would strike again in the third inning with three runs to make it a 5-2 lead. The Buccaneers got two quick outs but were unable to close out the inning. Joey Barter (Coventry, RI) hit a one run single to left field scoring Davis from second. Asa Nyblom (Wakefield, RI) smacked a double scoring Barter and then later scored himself on a pass ball.

CCRI had another enjoyable time at the plate in the fourth, scoring seven runs. David Mejia (Pawtucket, RI) started the inning off with a double. The next hit was another double, this time by Nick D'Ambra scoring three runs. Jacob Frost (Cranston, RI) followed up with an outfield single, bringing D'Ambra home.

Mass Bay would score one run in the top of the fifth, making the score 12-3. In the bottom of the fifth, Josh Andrade pinch hit for Austin Davis. Andrade absolutely smother the ball, hitting a walk-off triple to deep left field scoring the deciding run to end the game 13-3 in five innings.

Pitching for those five innings for the Knights was John Hemond (Pawtucket, RI). Hemand threw five innings, allowing two earned runs whilst not conceding a single walk and striking out 10 batters.
