Warwick, R.I. – January 29, 2018: the CCRI Indoor track team traveled to Boston University in Boston, MA to compete in the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic. This was a non-scoring event but CCRI did have some career and season-best performances at the meet.
For the Lady Knights' women Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) ran a career-best in the 500m race with the time of 1 minute 20.6 seconds which placed her 22nd in the event. Lenox's time was just .07 seconds off the CCRI record of 1:20.53 set by Sherilyn Nicholas in 2005. Hurdler Victoria Anderson (Manville, RI) placed 42nd in the 60m hurdles with the time of 10.31 seconds. Middle-distance runner Saramarie Cerullo (Smithfield, RI) placed 88th in the 800m with a time of 3:00.21.
For the Knights' men Ryan Pagliaro (Smithfield, RI) ran a season-best time in the mile placing 142nd overall with the time of 4:43.40. Sprinter Alexander Mowry (Warwick, RI) placed 110th in the 200m with a time of 25.34 seconds.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the Meet: "Great efforts by all the athletes facing off against mainly Division I NCAA athletes."
The next and final indoor meet for CCRI will be next weekend when they return to Boston University to compete in the BU Valentine Invite Saturday February 10th at 10am.
