Warwick, R.I. – October 11, 2016: The CCRI Lady Knights soccer team traveled to West Windsor, NJ to play a Soccer game versus the Vikings of Mercer County Community College. The Lady Knights lost to the Vikings 6-1. With the loss CCRI falls to 6-5 on the season.
The Vikings came out hard and had the Lady Knights back on their heels as the game began. The pressure paid off for Mercer in the 15 th minute when Janine Dennis released on a breakaway and scored to give Mercer the 1-0 advantage. The Lady Knights countered with a tally of their own on a goal by Mercedes Faust (Warwick, RI) assisted by Precious Leaman (Providence, RI). However just a few minutes later Janine Dennis struck again to put Mercer up 2-1 and once again before the half she tallied her third to give Mercer the 3-1 halftime lead.
Mercer kept the pressure on CCRI in the second half and eight minutes into the half Jackie Gummel scored for Mercer making it 4-1. Following three minute later Kellyann Krepp scored before Janine Dennis capped the scoring with her fourth goal of the day making the score and final tally 6-1 Mercer County.
The Lady Knights have little time to regroup with another game in New Jersey versus Essex County in Newark Sunday at 12noon.
