CCRI defeats Bunker Hill CC: 25-7, 25-10 & 25-9

The CCRI Lady Knights celebrated the annual Dig Pink Breast cancer awareness Tri-match. After reading some eye-opening women’s cancer facts and exchanging pink flowers with their opponents in honor of breast cancer awareness, the Lady Knights were ready for action! In the first game CCRI played very hard to pick up the on one and twos that Bunker Hill was giving them, almost never making a third hit on any ball to run a full offensive set. The Bulldogs also tip to CCRI weakest spots to keeping them on their toes. But that strategy did not amount to much success as The Lady Knights cruised in three straight games.

Tri-Captain Amanda LaCroix (East Freetown, MA) was an outside hitter in first game and in setter games two and three to finish with 16 assists, five aces, five digs and a kill. Melanie Diaz (New Bedford, MA) did a great job in all three games with four kills, nine aces and seven digs. Katrice Bridges (Providence, RI) finished as a starting right side game two and three with one kill. Carol Rodriguez (Pawtucket, RI) CCRI’s starting middle finished with five kills and two blocks and Megan Johns (Burrillville, RI) finished with an ace, three kills and a dig. Rounding out the CCRI top performers was Alexis Mirabile (Cranston, RI) who had three kills and an ace and Tri-Captain Mackenzie Easterbrooks (Plainville, MA) the starting libero had an assist, four aces, 15 digs and a kill.

CCRI defeats Northern Essex CC: 25-8, 25-12 & 25-10

The Lady Knights made quick work of the Knights of Northern Essex in game one winning by an impressive 25-8 score before mixing the line-up a bit which offered closer scores but still a dominant CCRI performance.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Tri-Captain Amanda LaCroix who had five kills, six aces, 11 assists and three digs. LaCroix was helped by Carol Rodriguez who had four kills a dig and a solo block. Also having a big match for CCRI was Roselyn Vasquez (Providence, RI) with three kills and four digs. Dahlia Rafael-Tirado (Warwick, RI) added four assists, four aces and a dig and Angelis Perez (Central Falls, RI) added five aces and a dig. Rounding out the CCRI stats was Melanie Diaz with seven digs, two aces and a kill and Tri-Captain Mackenzie Easterbrooks added 14 digs and a kill.

The next matches for the Lady Knights will be Saturday the 29th of October for the Northeast Invitational and Lady Knights Sophomore Day when they will host Bunker Hill and Northern Essex CC once again for their final regular season home matches of 2016.
