Warwick, R.I. – November 21, 2016: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team continued play in the Monroe Invitational on Saturday by facing the Bears of Harcum College form Bryn Mawr, PA. CCRI lost to Harcum 78-46. With the loss the Lady Knights fall to 3-4 on the season.
The Lady Knights once again found themselves in a very tough match-up versus a very potent Harcum squad. The Lady Knights kept it close in the first quarter but were trailing 18-12. In the second quarter Harcum increased their lead by five points with the score 38-27 at Halftime. In the second half Harcum extended the lead to 20 points with the score 60-40 before winning by the final count of 78-46.
Leading the way for CCRI was D’Asia Allen (Providence, RI) with 11 points with three assists, three rebounds and two steals and Co-Captain Mackenzie Brayman (North Stonington, CT) had 10 points with two 3-pointers and four rebounds. Co-Captain Kelsey Hernandez (New Britain, CT) had six points, five rebounds, three stelas and two assists, Dionna Jackson (Harriston, MS) had six points, three rebounds and two steals and Ashley VanBemmelen (North Providence, RI) added six points on two 3-pointers with four rebounds. Harcum’s Precious Milam led all scorers with 17 points.
The Lady Knights conclude play in the Monroe Invitational Sunday by playing Oakland Community College from Bloomfield, MI.
