Warwick, R.I. – August 31, 2016: The Community College of Rhode Island Department of Athletics has made an addition of a new Assistant Sports Information Coordinator with the hiring of Nick Pezzillo. Pezzillo takes the place of Jeff Schmeltz who moved on in early in the summer to work for the State of Rhode Island working with the Medicaid program.
Pezzillo comes to CCRI with a wealth of experience in Athletics as a soccer player and working for the New England Revolution soccer team in the Marketing Department. He also has experience working at CCRI since 2014 working as a Teacher/Counselor for the CCRI Kids College summer program.
Pezzillo will assist in the day to day activities of the Sports Information Department. He will cover sporting events, help prepare game day programs, help disseminate information and help in the maintenance of the CCRI historical athletic records among other tasks that are under the guise of the sports information realm.
Pezzillo attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated with a degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Leadership Studies. He also was involved with many leadership activities while attending URI. Nick resides in Cranston.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
