Warwick, R.I. – April 24, 2017: The CCRI Track & Field teams traveled to Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT to compete in the Wesleyan Elmer Swanson Invitational. This was a non-team scoring meet but CCRI did put forth some noteworthy performances.
For the Lady Knights Allison Lenox (North Kingstown, RI) ran season-best effort in the 400m run placing 3rd in a time of 1 minute 2.43 seconds. Lenox also placed 4th in the 200m in a time of 28.42 seconds. Victoria Anderson (Manville, RI) placed 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a season best time of 17.35 seconds. Anderson also placed 2nd in the 400m hurdles in the time of 1:16.06
For the Knights Cristian Figueroa (Providence, RI) ran his season-best time placing 4th in the 800m run in 2:01.99. The 4x400m relay team of Cristian Figueroa, Lincoln Robinson (Stonington, CT), Wayne Rainey (Hope Valley, RI) and Justin Lucier (West Warwick, RI) won the event in a season-best time of 3:36.86. Individually, Robinson also won the 400m hurdle race in a time of 58.02 seconds. Wayne Rainey placed 8th in the 100m in a time of 12.11 seconds. Rainey also placed 9th in the 200m race in a time of 24.50 seconds. Justin Lucier placed 4th in the 400m race in a time of 53.16 seconds and placed 6th in the 200m dash in a time of 23.93 seconds. The 4x100 meter relay team of Rainey, Robinson, Figueroa and Lucier placed second in a season-best time of 45.93 seconds. Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) ran a season-best effort in the 800m placing 14th in the time of 2:29.79. Dariel Santana Baez (Providence, RI) ran two season-best efforts: placing 13th in the 100m dash in a time of 12.50 seconds and placed 14th in the 200m run in the time of 26.11 seconds.
The final regular season meet for CCRI will be Sunday the 30th when they travel to Regis College for the “Pride” Invitational beginning at 10:00am.
